The Office of Public Engagement connects people, ideas, and resources to strengthen communities and advance the University of Illinois' land-grant mission.
Working alongside faculty, staff, students, community organizations, government agencies, industry partners, and alumni, we help transform shared priorities into meaningful, measurable public impact. By fostering collaboration across teaching, research, and service, we create opportunities that benefit both the university and the communities we serve.
Our Story
Building Partnerships That Matter
Established in 2021 within the Office of the Chancellor, the Office of Public Engagement was created to strengthen the university's commitment to public engagement by coordinating efforts across campus and supporting mutually beneficial partnerships with communities.
Today, we serve as a connector, convener, and strategic partner, bringing together people, programs, and resources to help faculty, staff, students, and community organizations and local residents work together to address shared priorities and create lasting impact throughout Illinois and beyond.
